California students who are 16 or 17 can now pre-register to vote online at registertovote.ca.gov. This means you can sign up early, and your registration will automatically become active when you turn 18. The voting age is still 18, but pre-registering gives you more time to get ready. To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen, live in California, not be in prison for a felony, and not have been declared unable to vote by a court. It's an easy way to be prepared for voting when you turn 18!
